During the 2023 NFL season, Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had the strongest season of his entire NFL career, posting career-high numbers in nearly every statistical category as he led the team to the playoffs with an 11-6 record during the regular season. And as he heads into another season with the team, it sounds like his coach is only growing more confident in him.
During an interview at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel expressed his faith in Tua Tagovailoa as he heads into the final year of his rookie contract.
“My belief has always been strong from Day 1 in Tua,” McDaniel said according to the Miami Herald. “It’s stronger than it was the first day I met him. And that’s because of that relationship, where I’m focused, which is continuing to provide the coaching so he can continue to evolve his game as he has since the second that I started talking to him.”
The Dolphins have already made it very clear that they intend to sign Tagovailoa to a long-term contract extension and those contract negotiations are underway. And it sounds like he has the full support of his head coach as he prepares to be the team’s quarterback for the long run.
