Tua Tagovailoa is entering the final year of his rookie contract with the Miami Dolphins, meaning he will need to work out a new contract with the team if he is going to stay in Miami for the foreseeable future. But even as the two sides negotiate a contract extension, it does not sound like he is particularly worried about it.
During a recent interview, Tua Tagovailoa got brutally honest about the whole process, revealing that he is just leaving all of those talks to his representation and he’s just focusing on football and preparing for the upcoming season.
“Just letting my agent deal with that and talk to the team about that,” Tagovailoa said according to Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post. “For me, my focus is when OTAs come, go to OTAs, show up and be the best teammate I can be.”
While this is certainly a reasonable approach for Tagovailoa to take, it’s also reasonable for reporters to continue to ask about the contract status given that his future with the Dolphins is one of the bigger and more important storylines in the entire league this offseason.
We’ll have to see whether or not the two sides can come to an agreement.
