Over the weekend, the Miami Dolphins officially announced the long-awaited contract extension for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, inking him to a new contract that will lock him up for the next four seasons. And it sounds like he is both excited and ready to prove himself after the announcement.
Tua Tagovailoa called the new four-year, $212 million extension “life-changing” for him during his press conference on Sunday. He also said “Heavy is the crown” when it comes to the responsibility that comes along with such a massive contract extension that makes him the organization’s highest-paid employee.
“I’m the highest-paid employee in this office,” Tagovailoa said on Sunday according to Pro Football Talk. “I got to get my whatever together. I got to get that right and get our guys moving in the direction that we need to go to be able to do those things.”
Tagovailoa pointed out that there is a lot he and the team still want to accomplish, saying that the Dolphins “haven’t won the games that we wanted to win.”
Obviously, this is a pretty significant announcement for both Tagovailoa and the team. We’ll have to see how he performs for the team in the coming years.
