Jacksonville Jaguars star quarterback Trevor Lawrence is heading into the final year of his rookie contract with the team, meaning he will need a new contract in the near future if he is going to stay with the team as the starting quarterback. And this week, he made it pretty clear that he would like that new contract to come sooner rather than later.
During a recent press conference, Trevor Lawrence was asked about his contract situation. And while he did say that he had “full belief that will take care of itself and that’s not something I need to worry about,” he also had a pretty clear message for the Jaguars that he would like to have that contract done before the start of training camp.
“That would be ideal just to put it behind us and keep moving and feel good about that going into training camp,” Lawrence said according to Pro Football Talk. “But either way, like I said before, I have the same job.”
The Jaguars have insisted that they want to sign him to a new contract and Lawrence has made it very clear he wants to be with the team for the foreseeable future. So it feels like it’s only a matter of time before a deal is reached.
