Last week, when the Kansas City Chiefs visited United States President Joe Biden at the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl LVIII victory, tight end Travis Kelce got to share a pretty special moment with the president – and it sounds like he is grateful.
During last year’s White House visit, Travis Kelce jokingly sneaked up to the podium as if he was going to speak into the microphone. But this time, he didn’t have to sneak, because Joe Biden invited him to speak.
“President [Joe] Biden called me up this time,” he recalled. “I didn’t have to sneak around him to get to it…It was cool. You know, I had no idea he was gonna do that. He kinda just sprung it on me. And it was real,” Kelce said.
“It was real. All the Secret Service guys that were there made sure to let me know that, you know…they got orders to keep me away from the podium unless asked…I was like, ‘Yeah.’… I felt all the Taser guns on me when I walked up there.”
And Kelce had a pretty clear message for Biden about just how much he enjoyed the gesture.
“But it was cool, man. And that is such an unbelievable experience,” he added.
