Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady is the most accomplished player in the history of the NFL, winning seven Super Bowl titles throughout his legendary career. He’s also become quite the businessman off the field, founding his Brady Brand apparel company and the TB12 fitness company. But in a wild turn of events, he’s now criticizing young athletes for their business decisions.
During a recent appearance on the “DeepCut with VicBlends” podcast, Tom Brady called out young athletes – or “kids these days” – for focusing on their own personal brands instead of the team.
“I think the biggest problem with a lot of [freaking] kids these days, it’s all about them. Their brand, their social media. When it’s about ‘me’ and then not about ‘us,’” Brady said via Fox News.
It’s worth noting that Brady himself has profited quite handsomely from his own personal brand as he has been a paid spokesperson for many companies like Uggs, Under Armour, Movado, Aston Martin and Glaceau Smartwater throughout his playing career. He also launched his TB12 in 2016 – the the height of his career – to profit from his image.
Needless to say, it feels a bit wrong for Brady to be criticizing young athletes in this way.
