With Houston Texans starting quarterback C.J. Stroud still in concussion protocol and looking unlikely to return this week, it looks like the team is making some contingency plans at the quarterback position to add depth in his place.

According to a report from Houston Texans reporter Aaron Wilson, the team is signing former New York Jets quarterback Tim Boyle to their practice squad.

“Sources: #Texans sign QB Tim Boyle to practice squad after workout with C.J. Stroud still dealing with concussion symptoms and Case Keenum prepping and expected to start second game in a row Sunday against #Browns @KPRC2,” Wilson wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

While it’s unlikely that Boyle will see the field for the Texans this season as he’ll still be behind Case Keenum and Davis Mills on the team’s depth chart, his signing still led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Boyle most recently played for the New York Jets where he started three games this season after the team benched Zach Wilson. After struggling in his three starts, Wilson was given back the starting role and the Jets parted ways with Boyle.
