Cinemagraphs are apparently a new digital photography technique that meshes together video clips with photographs to create moving photographs. The results are akin to really high-quality .gifs that repeat in timed sequences.
The San Francisco 49ers employed cinemagraph photography at their cheerleader auditions to demonstrate how cinemgagraphs differ from gifs or simple video clips and the results are… strange? I mean, it’s cool to see cinemagraphy in action but watching still images “interacting” with moving images takes a little while to acclimate to.
Luckily, the 49ers provided plenty of cinemagraphs from their cheerleader auditions and you can check them out below. The subject matter certainly helps one get over the initial oddness of seeing still pictures suddenly burst to life.
