Over the weekend, San Francisco 49ers star pass rusher Nick Bosa went viral after he displayed a “Make America Great Again” hat during a postgame television interview after the team’s win over the Dallas Cowboys. And one of his former teachers is clearly not happy about it.
As news of Bosa’s antics went viral on social media, a former high school classmate and eventual summer school teacher of Nick Bosa took to social media to blast the star pass rusher.
I went to high school with both Nick and Joey Bosa. I taught Nick speech and debate in Summer School. He’s as racist as he is dumb. And I hope the NFL holds him accountable. https://t.co/zcc1shvD7I

“I went to high school with both Nick and Joey Bosa. I taught Nick speech and debate in Summer School. He’s as racist as he is dumb. And I hope the NFL holds him accountable,” Jean-Marcos González said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
In a follow-up post, González pointed out that Bosa was also clearly in violation of the NFL rules.
“Throughout the period on game day that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warm-ups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office,” the handbook states according to Fox News.
The rule book goes on to make it very clear that those rules include political messaging.
“The League will not grant permission for any club or player to wear, display, or otherwise convey messages, through helmet decals, arm bands, jersey patches, mouthpieces, or other items affixed to game uniforms or equipment, which relate to political activities or causes, other non-football events, causes or campaigns, or charitable causes or campaign. Further, any such approved items must be modest in size, tasteful, non-commercial, and non-controversial; must not be worn for more than one football season,” the rulebook states.
Needless to say, this callout from one of Bosa’s former teachers led to a lot of reactions on social media.
“Nick Bosa wanted attention, and then folded when he got it. He aint built like that,” someone wrote on X.
“The amount of people defending Nick Bosa when he literally had to delete 100s of tweets before he was drafted because they were racist is wild lmao The dude has openly shown it, why is this even debatable at this point,” one person wrote.
“This isn’t the first time I’ve heard this,” another person added.
“I’ve been a lifelong 49er fan. The 49ers can no longer ignore the fact that the team has more than a few racist rednecks on the roster. Many of us are close to simply finding a new team,” someone else added.
“Kaepernick was treated disgracefully for going to his knee. What about this guy?” another person said.
Clearly, people are not happy about this revelation.
