When Taylor Swift began dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce during the 2023 NFL season, she obviously brought a lot of attention to the team from people who otherwise would not have a reason to watch or care about football. But apparently, she also had an even greater impact on the team – changing Kelce’s personality.
During a recent appearance on The Sports Shop With Reese & Kmac, Kansas City Chiefs defensive backs coach Dave Merritt opened up about how Taylor Swift actually had a positive impact on the team by how she was able to affect Kelce and make him happy.
“She actually affected the team in a positive way,” Merritt said according to Entertainment Tonight. “Everybody was excited that Travis was happy. So when my player, my brother, is happy beside me, that helps me and that encourages me.”
In fact, Merritt went as far as to suggest that Kelce was a changed man after he began dating Swift, and that had a positive effect on the team.
“My player, my brother is happy beside me,” he said. “Travis came in there a different man. So, she helped us.”
So perhaps the Chiefs really can thank Swift for pushing them on to the Super Bowl.
