After attending the Super Bowl LVIII showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers in support of her boyfriend Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift is back on tour as she continues the international leg of her Era’s Tour. But after returning to the stage following the big game, it seems like she’s making a pretty major change to her concert format.
During every concert on the Era’s Tour, Taylor Swift performs largely the same setlist except for two surprise songs which are not revealed until Swift begins performing them at the show. Up until now, Swift has made a rule not to repeat any of the surprise songs on her tour. But after the Super Bowl, she has changed that rule.
“That was to challenge me to really get to all the ones that I just don’t naturally gravitate towards, and I feel really proud about having done that,” Swift said.
“But this is sort of a public service announcement to everyone who might be anywhere else on the tour, or whatever, or watching this — we have a lot of people, we’re very lucky to have a lot of people watch this on the internet and care about these shows if they’re not here.
“I’ve just been kind of rethinking, and I’ve been thinking I want to be as creative as possible with the acoustic set moving forward and I don’t want to limit anything or say, ‘If I played this song, I can’t play it again.'”
It’s not clear what inspired this change, but it’s a pretty significant change after the Super Bowl.
