The NFL’s salary cap is getting an absolutely massive bump this offseason, and a lot of football fans – and Swifites – think they know why.

On Friday afternoon, league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the league’s salary cap is expected to see an absolutely massive jump this offseason.

“The NFL announced that the 2024 Salary Cap will be $255.4M per club, with an additional $74M per club payment for player benefits, which includes Performance Based Pay and benefits for retired players. Total 2024 player costs will be $329.4M per club, or more than $10.5B league-wide,” Rapoport said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“The unprecedented $30M increase per club in this year’s Salary Cap is the result of the full repayment of all amounts advanced by the clubs and deferred by the players during the Covid pandemic as well as an extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season.”

That last line of “an extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season” caught a lot of attention as fans seem to believe that Taylor Swift is responsible for that bump after the attention she caused following the start of her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

It’s not clear just how much Swift played a role in the increased media revenue, but it certainly didn’t hurt!
