When the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Houston Texans in the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs on Saturday night, Taylor Swift made another appearance in the stands to cheer on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. However, her outfit choice didn’t sit well with many fans.
Taylor arrived at the game dressed head-to-toe in Chanel, with her ensemble costing just under $23,000, as noted by People magazine.
“The Grammy winner teamed Chanel’s $9,600 black and white tweed coat with a $4,650 wool jersey romper and $2,250 chain pearl belt. She also wore $1,150 oversize double C Chanel disc earrings and a $5,000 Chanel mini flap bag,” People Magazine wrote on Saturday.
While the price tag is hardly a concern for the billionaire pop star, fans felt the high-fashion look was not at all appropriate for a football game.
The outfit sparked outrage online, with many thinking it was completely inappropriate for the occasion and accusing Taylor of being overdressed and failing to show even a hint of team pride for Kelce or the Chiefs.
“I still can’t wrap my head around the idea, that you need full-on glam and high heels at the football game, why…” one Reddit wrote in a post.
“Why can’t she just wear a cute pair of jeans with some designer sneakers and a jersey or a cool letterman jacket? I’m so confused by all of this,” another person wrote.
“Once again, terribly inappropriate outfit for a football game,” a commenter added.
“I’ve never seen another WAG dress like this for a game. Taylor, we know you’re a billionaire, honey. You don’t need the giant Chanel belt to remind everybody in the Stadium and North America that you’re richer than God. And leave your face alone! It looks like it hurts from all the filler injected,” someone else remarked.
“Why can’t she just wear her BF’s jersey like any other football girl would?” one user suggested.
“Taylor just wear a hoodie or something,” another said.
“Honestly I like this outfit but I hate the inclination to turn every game into a pap walk. Just show up in a jersey like every other normal cheesy NFL girlfriend,” one fan commented.
“She does know she’s going to a football game where 90% of people are going to be wearing mustard-stained jerseys… she does too much,” another person wrote.

Clearly, fans seem to think that the pop sensation should have been a bit more casual with her attire.
