Former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Tarvaris Jackson can soon drop the word “former” from that title, as ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter reports that Jackson is set to sign a one-year deal in Seattle. Jackson’s return to the Northwest marks the latest turn in the Seahawks’ backup quarterback adventure that began when head coach Pete Carroll tapped rookie Russell Wilson to start over Matt Flynn for the 2012 season — a situation that ultimately led to Jackson’s initial departure.
This off season, the Seahawks dumped Flynn and signed Brady Quinn to back up Wilson. Now, Quinn has some competition, and from a guy who knows Carroll (not to mention also having experience offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell’s system). Jackson had a tumultuous, injury-plagued season as a starter in Seattle (2011), leading the Seahawks to a 7-9 record, while throwing 14 touchdowns against 13 interceptions.
The signing isn’t officially official yet, but Jackson confirmed (via Twitter, of course) that he plans to sign on Thursday.
