The Kansas City Chiefs traded away superstar cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans earlier this offseason in order to create a little space on the salary cap. But it sounds like the coaching staff understands just how big of a loss it was to lose him.
During a recent press conference, Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo made it clear that L’Jarius Sneed isn’t the type of player who can easily be replaced.
“We’ll see. I don’t think anybody is going to replace LJ Sneed,” Spagnuolo said in his press conference according to Pro Football Talk. “I thought LJ had a remarkable year in everything that he did. There are some shoes there to fill, whether we do it with one person or two people or shift guys around, we’ll see.”
The Chiefs do have some options when it comes to replacing Sneed with the possibility of Trent McDuffie playing outside after playing in the slot most of his career up to this point. But Spagnuolo understands that there simply won’t be a one-for-one replacement for Sneed. He also knows he doesn’t have to rush to figure all of this out.
“We have a long way to go to figure that out,” Spagnuolo said.
We’ll have to see how the Chiefs handle his departure.
