The San Francisco 49ers signed veteran quarterback Josh Dobbs last month. And even though Dobbs has plenty of experience as a starting quarterback in the league, he obviously won’t have that role in San Francisco – but he’s not bothered by that.
During a recent interview with Adam Schefter of ESPN, Josh Dobbs had a message for Brock Purdy as he joins the team, making it clear that he will be supporting Purdy however he can as the team’s backup quarterback.
“At the end of the day, he wins football games and he plays efficient football,” Dobbs told Schefter according to 49ers Webzone. “That’s all you can ask for. So that’s what I’m most excited about, just being able to obviously provide my perspective on what I’ve learned throughout the league and be able to assume whatever role that looks like this upcoming year. But to be around that and that coaching and that type of player and that type of room and that consistency, I think it’d be really good for me, and I’m excited to see what I’ll be able to add and help the team with for this upcoming year.”
Dobbs may not be a starter for the team, but he’ll still have a role in helping them return to the Super Bowl this season.
