The Las Vegas Raiders have made a number of moves to help sure up their quarterback situation this offseason. And yet, they still have a somewhat undefined situation when it comes to who will ultimately be the starting quarterback for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell started in ten games this past season, showing some flashes of solid play during that stretch. So he could very well be an option for the team as a possible starter.

The Raiders also brought in veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew this offseason, who did shine this past season for the Indianapolis Colts when he was asked to start following an injury to rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Both Minshew and O’Connell could be good options if they are put in a position to succeed. But is either really the long-term answer for the Raiders at quarterback? That prospect seems pretty unlikely on paper.

The Raiders could look to draft a quarterback in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. They have the No. 13 pick in the upcoming draft, which puts them in a position to potentially select a quarterback of the future with their first-round pick.

It seems like this may be the plan of the Raiders this offseason. This week, they are bringing in several potential first-round quarterbacks for a private meeting.

According to NFL Network’s Albert Breer, the Raiders met with Washington Huskies product Michael Penix Jr. on Thursday, and they will also be meeting with Oregon’s Bo Nix on Friday.

Of the two prospects, Penix is widely expected to be the player who could go quite a bit earlier in the draft. But either Nix or Penix could potentially be on the board when the Raiders select at No. 13.

With the current quarterback situation that the Raiders have, it may not be a bad idea to bring in a player like Nix or Penix to potentially compete for the starting job. At the very least, it could make for a very intriguing quarterback battle to watch this offseason.
