Earlier this month, the Pittsburgh Steelers completely revamped their quarterback room when they brought in former Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson and traded for former Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields. And it sounds like there is yet another new quarterback joining the roster.
According to a report from Pittsburgh Steeler insider Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the team is singing veteran backup quarterback Kyle Allen to add even more depth to the quarterback position.
“Steelers are signing former Bills QB Kyle Allen to backup Russell Wilson and Justin Fields,” Dulac said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Allen has bounced around the league since he signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted rookie in 2018, but he most recently played with the Buffalo Bills where he served as the backup quarterback for Josh Allen.
With Kyle Allen now coming to the Steelers and the Buffalo Bills now signing Mitchell Trubisky, the Steelers and Bills have effectively swapped bench quarterbacks this offseason.
Obviously, Allen is not expected to be the starter for the team, but he will be able to provide some valuable depth and experience to the roster.
