Every year during the Super Bowl, the game’s commercials draw nearly as much interest as the game itself as brands and corporations spend huge money on advertisements during the big game. The Super Bowl LVIII showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers was no different, except one commercial seems to be causing a lot of outrage.
During the game, pharmaceutical and biotechnology corporation Pfizer Inc. – which is one of the prominent producers of the COVID-19 vaccine – shared a commercial that highlighted its new focus on oncology, which is the study of the treatment of tumors.
“Kicking tonight off with a celebration of our own. Here’s to science. Here’s to the next fight,” Pfizer Inc. said in a post on X, the social media website formerly known as Twitter.

The commercial, which is called “Here’s to Science,” shows some statues, paintings, and photos of well-known scientists such as Sir Isaac Newton and Archimedes while the song “Don’t Stop Me Now” plays in the background.
But not everyone was happy about the pharmaceutical sharing its commercial as it seemed to spark some outrage among conservatives and the far right.
🚨🇺🇸 Pfizer Sponsors Super Bowl
Look at Pfizers Super Bowl Ad – targeting…..you guessed it – CANCER.
Did you know the largest corporate fine of $2.3BILLION in history was against Pfizer?

Watch this Pfizer ad carefully.
It highlights CURES (like penicillin) from 70+ years ago.
No mention of chronic disease management, which is how they make $ now.
The implicit message is we should trust them now because of scientific innovations 100 years ago. Should we? https://t.co/P4Lbi41yzT

Pfizer is so scared they turn the comments off. Nice to see you have zero confidence in your product. https://t.co/IC4Nhh0Qvh

This is appalling.
“Here’s to the principles of bodily autonomy, voluntary informed consent and first, do no harm”, Pfizer https://t.co/9nT1IY0KRp

Very morbid to have Pharma ads in fun times like superbowl.
Like the maskie nurses dancing in the scamdemic.
Keep these healthcare people far away from people having fun. Party poopers! https://t.co/pXuIzIs78G

It’s worth noting that Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce is a spokesperson for Pfizer.
