The rivalry between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers is probably just as heated among the two head coaches as it is between the two squads and the two fan bases.
Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh have a rivalry that goes back to their college coaching days.
So, it’s not that surprising that Carroll would take an opportunity to remind Jim Harbaugh that his Seahawks have definitely gotten the better of the 49ers recently.
During the Seahawks’ annual Town Hall meeting, Carroll was complimentary of Harbaugh before reminding everyone who came out on top of the NFC Championship Game.
Finally, Carroll was asked about the rivalry with the 49ers and Jim Harbaugh. He gave a lengthy answer in which he repeated his oft-stated philosophy about every week being a “championship opportunity” and how the team can’t afford to make one game any bigger than the other. But he ended with an applause line in saying that Harbaugh is “a great coach and we love beating him.”
If only Pete had gone into a Richard Sherman rant about “Sorry Harbaugh”. That would have been a real crowd-pleaser.
