The New England Patriots dynasty has been well-documented in the new Apple docuseries “The Dynasty”. However, two Patriots stars made it publically known on Tuesday that they are not happy about the story being told to the public.
Two-time Pro Bowler Rodney Harrison had a huge impact on the team’s success in the early 2000s, playing for the organization for six seasons and helping the team win two Super Bowl Championships.
Similarly, Devin McCourty helped the Patriots win three Super Bowl Championships, earning two Pro Bowl appearances in his own right while playing the entirety of his 13-year NFL career in New England.
Unfortunately, neither featured all that frequently in the docuseries, instead being overshadowed for the most part by storylines surrounding the likes of Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and owner Robert Kraft.
Both spoke to Pro Football Talk about the docuseries, expressing their disappointment with how the project turned out.
“It didn’t tell the stories of like me coming and Corey Dillon,” said Harrison. “I interviewed for five or six hours in New York. And all they had of me saying was f*** em all.”
“I felt like I got kind of duped,” said McCourty. “I was like man, this is going to be great. The storytelling and we’re talking about this and talking about that. Everything that we gave to the 20 years that it encompassed. They only hit anything that was negative. Like hey, we won at a high level and stayed there. I could have left two times but came back. There are reasons why.”

Harrison in particular was also upset with how Belichick was portrayed, which wasn’t always as the great coach that most see him as.
“They act like the last three or four years because the PAtriots struggled that Bill can’t coach. Bill made some mistakes, he wasn’t always the nicest and purest guy. But at the end of the day, he always did what he could to make the team better. He gives guys who are the underdogs an opportunity. Nobody talks about that. I just don’t think he got enough credit.”
Naturally, fans had plenty to say about their complaints on social media.
It was a Bill Belichick hit piece. Patriot fans LOVE Tom Brady. We also love Bill Belichick. For a franchise that dominated football for 20 years the doc was overwhelmingly sad. Very odd. https://t.co/VhxDIMu0mM

Two of the all time Patriots and among the best leaders in team history speaking the truth. It’s simply not quantifiable how horrible The Dynasty is and the damage Bob Kraft has done to his legacy and reputation is incalculable and can never be repaired. https://t.co/OIupwoNgWb

To me, Rodney Harrison’s entire Patriots tenure, as it related to the team’s overall success in that era, was one of the biggest omissions from The Dynasty.
Glad to see he feels the same way. https://t.co/9O8LIyXKnT

What more proof do you people need to realize this Dynasty doc was a hit piece from the start? Hours of interviews with players and the cherry-picked what fit their narrative. Unacceptable. https://t.co/RryIrk70lx

It’s safe to say that there are certainly a ton of complaints about the docuseries from fans as well…
