Perhaps because it’s impossible to think of one without the other, Mike Tirico couldn’t help but put the words “Mark Sanchez” and “Michael Vick” in the same train of thought. After all, the Eagles had released Vick over the offseason and brought in Sanchez to be Nick Foles backup, so this faux pas is almost understandable.
When introducing the two teams for Monday Night Football, Tirico correctly identified that Mark Sanchez would be starting for the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, he then stated that the Carolina Panthers would be led by Michael Vick, which would be a tantalizing story line if Vick were playing for the Panthers and not the New York Jets.
