Micah Parsons was not in attendance for the Dallas Cowboys when the team started its voluntary offseason program this week leading many to speculate that his absence was related to his ongoing contract negotiations with the team like wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is also skipping the voluntary program. But it sounds like there’s another reason for Parsons’ absence.
According to a report from Dallas Cowboys insider Mike Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, Micah Parsons decided to skip the Cowboys offseason program simply because he wants to be able to train for the upcoming season in a way that is the most optimal for him.
“As contract dissatisfaction keeps Lamb away from the team, Parsons has a different deterrent. A person close to the hybrid defensive end told The Dallas Morning News that Parsons is focused on a personalized training program outside the facility while determined to prepare himself for the 2024 season in the manner he considers optimal,” Gehlken wrote for the Dallas Morning News.
Gehlken notes that Parsons actually made this same decision last year and it had great results as he arrived for camp in excellent physical condition. We’ll have to see how it works out this time.
