Less than 48 hours after returning to action from an elbow injury that forced him to miss two-plus games, Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno has been placed on injured reserve with an ACL injury.

The veteran running back also battled a knee injury during training camp and will finish the season with only 148 yards in 31 carries. The team will turn back to Lamar Miller as their workhorse back for the remainder of the season. Following an agonizing last-second home defeat to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, the 2-3 Dolphins will visit the 3-3 Chicago Bears in Week 7.
Moreno signed a one-year contract for 2014 and will be an unrestricted free agent following the season.
