This week, the Los Angeles Rams announced a new, restructured three-year contract for star quarterback Matthew Stafford that replaced his previous contract. While the details of that contract have not yet been revealed, it sounds like Stafford is happy.
During a recent press conference, Matthew Stafford opened up a little bit about how he was feeling following the news of his new contract, calling it a “good agreement.”
“It was a good agreement,” Stafford told reporters on Wednesday. “Listen, I’m happy to be where I am, you know what I mean? I’m happy to be here. I’m happy to be playing. I’m excited about playing football this year and that’s what matters to me the most, to be honest with you.”
Stafford was reportedly seeking some changes to his contract that offered him some guaranteed money beyond the 2024 season, which obviously would give him some assurance that he would remain the team’s quarterback beyond this upcoming season – or at least compensate him if he is not.
It’s not clear what exactly the new, restructured contract includes, but it’s safe to assume that it does indeed include some guarantees beyond this upcoming season, which would be why Stafford is happy.
