The Los Angeles Rams appear to be a facing a pretty brutal contraction situation regarding star quarterback Matthew Stafford, and head coach Sean McVay was asked about it this week.
Matthew Stafford reportedly wants more of his remaining contract to be guaranteed money, leading to a little bit of a contract standoff between Stafford nad the team.
“Yeah, I’ve had good dialogue with Matthew,” McVay said. “We’ll keep those things in house, but he’s been working with our guys and we’ll keep those things in house.”
After several questions that McVay tried his very best to avoid answering, he did finally give a longer answer regarding Stafford’s status with the team when asked whether or not he expected Stafford to attend organized team activities.
“We’re going to take it a day at a time,” McVay said. “We’ll see. So we’re going to try to figure it out. There’s nothing that’s more important than making sure that he feels appreciated and he knows how much we love him and want him to lead the way. I think that commitment that I think he wants to have can be reciprocated and we want to work towards figuring that out.”
We’ll have to see how the situation plays out, but it’s clear that Stafford isn’t perfectly content at the moment.
