On Monday evening, NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk broke some news that Kirk Cousins was seriously considering a move to Atlanta, which would obviously mean joining the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent. And on Tuesday, he added a little more context to that report.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Mike Florio reported that Kirk Cousins was making arrangements for a possible move to Atlanta if he does decide to join the Falcons. This potentially includes Cousins trying to secure the No. 8 jersey number currently worn by Falcons star tight end Kyle Pitts.
“There’s an effort to look for maybe schools for the kids, house for the family, up to and including – and I haven’t confirmed this part yet, but it’s just one of those little things that makes sense – you know, talking to the guy who currently wears No. 8, Kyle Pitts, about getting No. 8,” Florio said.
Obviously, Pitts has worn the jersey number since he was selected by the Falcons with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
We’ll have to see whether or not Cousins does end up signing with the Falcons once free agency officially begins this month, but it sure sounds like he’s making plans to make Atlanta his new home this offseason.
