On Wednesday night, violence erupted at the Kansas City Chiefs victory parade as they celebrated their recent Super Bowl championship when a shooting claimed the life of one victim and injured at least 22 more. And it sounds like the entire incident started as a result of an argument.
According to the Associated Press, police said that the violence started as a result of “a dispute among several people.”
“Authorities in Kansas City said Thursday that the mass shooting that left one person dead and 22 injured at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration appeared to have stemmed from a dispute among several people,” the Associated Press reported on Thursday.
According to the Associated Press, three people have been detained as a part of the incident, two of whom are juveniles.
“We are working to determine the involvement of others. And it should be noted we have recovered several firearms. This incident is still a very active investigation,” Police Chief Stacey Graves said at a news conference on Thursday.
Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a popular Kansas City radio DJ, was killed in the violence. The 22 people who were injured in the violent act ranged between the ages of 8 and 47 years old, and of the 22 injured, half of them were under the age of 16. Eight of the victims are classified as critically hurt while seven are in serious condition.
