Kansas City Chiefs parade shooting David Rainey-USA TODAY Sports

Last week, celebration and jubilation quickly turned to chaos and terror when a shooting broke out at a parade celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVIII victory over the San Francisco 49ers, killing one woman and injuring more than 20 other people. And the cause for the shooting is nothing short of shocking.

According to documents obtained by NBC News, the shooting began as a result of a disagreement that began because one man appeared to be staring at some other men.

“Four males approached Lyndell Mays and one of the males asked Lyndell Mays what he was looking at, because they didn’t know him,” the charging documents allege, according to NBC News.

“They began arguing about why they were staring at each other,” Detective Grant Spiking wrote in the documents, according to NBC News.

Shortly after the argument, guns were drawn and shooting began, ultimately injuring more than 20 people and killing popular local radio DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who was a mother of two children.

It was a senseless act of violence that caused irreparable harm to a number of people, and it all started as a result of a disagreement about why people were looking at each other.
