Veteran wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is re-joining the Kansas City Chiefs this season after spending last season with the New England Patriots. But even though he is quite familiar with the team and the playbook after playing for the Chiefs in 2022, that doesn’t mean he’s necessarily going to be ready to play to start the season.
During his introductory press conference with the team after signing as a free agent, JuJu Smith-Schuster said that it is “too early to tell” whether or not he will be ready to play in the team’s season-opening showdown with the Baltimore Ravens, but he did make it clear that he is very comfortable and quite familiar with the offense and the team, which makes things a lot easier.
“Just very familiar with the offense,” Smith-Schuster said according to Pro Football Talk. “Very familiar with Andy Reid, Pat, the guys. So just being in this facility kind of makes your job a lot easier than going somewhere new.”
Smith-Schuster had a strong season with the Chiefs in 2022, catching 78 passes for 933 yards and two touchdowns. However, he managed just 29 catches for 260 yards for the Patriots last year. We’ll have to see how he performs this season.
