Following the NFL Draft, teams typically try to fill the remaining gaps and holes on their roster with players from free agency. But it doesn’t sound like that’s the immediate plan for the Kansas City Chiefs.
During a recent press conference, Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach made it clear that the team is excited about the current roster and wants to see what some of the young players can do, how they perform and how they improve before they start looking to add other players through free agency.
“For right now, I think we’re going to let these young guys go out there and see what they can do and how much they can absorb. . . . If we need to go in a different direction before training camp, we will,” Veach said according to Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star. “But I think now, we’re excited with where the roster is, and look forward to the final OTA periods.”
The Chiefs obviously have one of the most talented rosters in the league coming with a quarterback who has already established himself as one of the best in league history. We’ll have to see if they’re able to pull off the unprecedented three-peat this upcoming season.
