The Kansas City Chiefs are at the top of the NFL right now after winning the Super Bowl each of the past two seasons, but Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals would like to change that.

The Bengals and the Chiefs have had quite a few epic showdowns in recent years with the two teams matching up in the AFC Championship game in 2021 and 2022. And while Joe Burrow would undeniably like to knock the Chiefs off of their podium this year, right now his focus is just on preparing for the upcoming season the best that he can.

“We’ll have to wait and see. That’s what’s so exciting about the NFL. I think every year is so different. What are going to be your strong points and what are going to be your weak points until five, six weeks into the year. At the beginning you’re just trying to find yourself and the teams that find themselves the fastest are the ones that have great training camps,” Burrow said in a recent interview with Complex.

That’s what I’m focused on, getting out to training camp and trying to get better every day.”

When it comes to the Chiefs, Burrow isn’t allowing himself to focus on them just yet, but he made it clear that he is excited for their Week 2 showdown.

“And we will focus on the Chiefs when we have to focus on ’em. They’re week two, so I’m excited about getting ’em early this year, but we’ll see ’em when we see ’em,” Burrow said.

Burrow clearly wants to beat the Chiefs and overtake them at the top of the league, but he understands that comes with preparation during the offseason.
