Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow is expected to be fully healthy for the upcoming 2024-25 season after his season-ending injury last year. But on Tuesday, Burrow admitted that perhaps a bigger struggle for him has been recovering mentally from the recovery process.
Burrow of course missed the final seven games of the season last year due to a torn ligament in his throwing wrist. The injuries have been an unfortunate part of what has otherwise been a spectacular first four years in the NFL.
The wrist injury wasn’t the only injury that Burrow had to battle with last season either, also playing through a strained right calf for much of the early part of the year.
His rookie season was also marred with injuries as well, famously suffering a season-ending Grade 3 tear in the PCL and a torn meniscus.
Obviously, recovering from all these ailments has to be an incredibly difficult and frustrating process. Burrow admitted exactly that in an interview with Bengals beat reporter Kelsey Conway, saying that all of his injuries have had him thinking about his “football mortality”.
“Whenever the injuries start to stack up your football mortality kind of comes into the back of your mind. So, that’s definitely something I’ve thought about and something I have had to fight through.”

At just 27 years of age, Burrow has had to fight through a number of very serious injuries. You have to wonder how long he can do that until he experiences some setbacks in terms of his ability on the field.
But with that being said, Burrow has been excellent when he has been on the field throughout his career in Cincinnati. So hopefully he can stay on the field this coming season.
