Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker made some quite controversial comments when he delivered recent graduation speech at Benedictine College in Kansas. In the speech, Butker made anti-LGBTQ comments, criticized United States President Joe Biden, and suggested that women should be “homemakers.” But despite the comments, it sounds like he’ll still be invited to the White House.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been invited to visit the White House by United States President Joe Biden and his administration in celebration of their recent Super Bowl LVIII win. And despite the controversial comments, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that Harrison Butker will still be invited to the White House along with all of his teammates.
“So can you confirm — you said everyone on the team is obviously invited. Is the Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker welcomed at this White House?” a reporter asked Jean-Pierre.
CNN’s @MJ_Lee: “Given his recent comments, is he specifically welcome at this White House?”
KJP: “We invite the team. We invite the team. It's an invitation that goes to the team. And so, it's up to the team who comes and who doesn't come. That’s the way it usually works.” pic.twitter.com/AovduRF2hB

“What I can say is we invite the entire team and we do that always. I don’t have anything beyond that,” Jean-Pierre replied to the question.
Butker was in attendance when the team visited the White House last year, and he used the occasion to send a pro-life message with his wardrobe. We’ll have to see if he does something similar this year.
