New Los Angeles head coach Jim Harbaugh is looking to completely revitalize his new team. And a big opportunity for him to do so is to build through the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.

The Chargers have a total of eight picks in the upcoming draft, with their most important coming at No. 5 overall.

The team could go in many different directions with the pick. Bringing in a new weapon at wide receiver for star quarterback Justin Herbert could be high on their priority list. Or maybe even bringing in an elite-level offensive lineman to keep Herbert upright.

Regardless, there is one position that the team will certainly not be taking high in the upcoming draft, and that is the quarterback position.

In fact, Jim Harbaugh made it clear in an interview on Thursday that hopes that four quarterbacks go in succession at the top of the draft so his team has the opportunity to take whoever they want with their first round pick.

“There’s talk of four quarterbacks going in the first four picks,” Harbaugh said via ProFootballTalk. “If that happens, then that pick really becomes like the No. 1 pick in the draft. If four quarterbacks go in the first four picks, that’s not like the fifth pick anymore, that’s like the No. 1 pick in the draft for teams that have a great quarterback already.”

It’s not exactly a shock that Harbaugh feels this way. Already having a great quarterback like Justin Herbert had to be a pretty big selling point for Harbaugh when he took the job.

It would be ideal for this scenario to happen for the Chargers. Then, they would have the chance to grab some of the elite-level non-quarterback talent in the draft like Marvin Harrison Jr. or Joe Alt.

Only time will tell whether Harbaugh gets his wish. But with how hyped up this quarterback class is, it certainly seems like a possibility.
