Legendary quarterback Tom Brady was at the center of a prominent NFL scandal several years ago when the NFL investigated Brady and the New England Patriots for underinflating footballs to make them easier to throw. But Jason Kelce doesn’t think underinflating football should even be against the rules.
During the latest episode of his New Heights podcast with brother Travis Kelce, Jason Kelce had a pretty clear message for Tom Brady about what he thought about the whole deflate-gate scandal. And in a shocking turn of events, it sounds like Kelce doesn’t think it should even be against the rules to deflate footballs.
“I don’t even think Tom should have got in trouble for deflating footballs,” Jason Kelce said according to Lauren Campbell of MassLive.com. “I’m pro-deflating footballs. I’ll say it. I’ll say it. I am pro-deflating footballs. . . . He outsmarted people. Why the [heck] does it matter how much air is in that [thing]? If you’re throwing it and catching it, who the [heck] cares?
“We’re all mad because he had the common sense to [freaking] take a little air out so the receivers could catch the [freaking] thing? Why is that against the rules? You all could have taken the air out, too. You guys could have taken the air out, too. You just weren’t smart enough. So why am I getting penalized because you’re [freaking] dummies? It’s a rule, but it’s a stupid rule, though.”
It’s certainly an interesting stance on the matter.
