Some people are good at throwing footballs. Some people are good at throwing baseballs. And some people are ungodly good at both.
Jameis Winston was unsure regarding his future baseball career when asked in February, citing that it’s always been a personal dream of his. Tampa Bay general manager, Jason Licht, however, texted Winston saying that the Bucs wouldn’t support a two sport career, writing into the contract a clause prohibiting Winston from playing professional baseball.
The clause was spotted by S.I.’s Peter King in this week’s MMQB
Fast forward to last week. Licht and agents Greg Genske and Kenny Felder negotiated the Winston contract so he’d have the business of football out of the way and he could focus solely on football, starting with the Bucs’ minicamp that gets underway Thursday in Tampa. In the contract, a Bucs’ source said, is a clause prohibiting Winston from playing professional baseball during the life of his Tampa Bay deal.
Jameis Winston’s final baseball stats as a closer for Florida State: 60 1/3 innings, 1.08 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 52 strikeouts, nine saves.

We can all thank Licht for saving us from another Michael Jordan fiasco.
