Back in May, Michael Sam became the first openly gay player drafted in the NFL. It was a historic moment for sports and certainly one that Sam will remember forever.

Moments after he received the news that he was being picked up by the St. Louis Rams, Sam kissed his boyfriend and celebrated with some cake-in-the-face. ESPN made the decision to air the joyous moment because, hey, it’s a big moment in sports and ESPN is a sports news network when it’s not airing Skip Bayless.

Of course, there were some people who were not too happy seeing two guys kissing on their television sets and they took their proverbial torches and pitchforks to the FCC. Deadspin was able to get their hands on each complaint that was filed thanks to the Freedom of Information Act. You’ll notice a certain theme running through some of them (aside from the rampant homophobia):

Seriously, how hard is it to explain that two guys can love each other like any other couple on the planet?
