Don’t mess with DeShaun Watson.
Watson’s had a pretty stellar football career despite being just 22. In his sophomore season at Clemson, the versatile QB led the Tigers to the National Championship finals, losing a heartbreaker against Alabama. In his junior year, Watson got revenge, beating the Crimson Tide earning MVP honors. On top of that, he finished as the runner-up in Heisman voting to Lamar Jackson. Now a Houston Texan after getting selected 12th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, people are still trying to delegitimize Watson’s success.
College GameDay posted a photo of this Charlie-Brown parody sign showing Jackson and Watson, where the former gets a Heisman Trophy and the latter gets a rock for Halloween. Now, obviously, that mindset doesn’t make a ton of sense as Watson has a National Championship and Jackson, well, just has a Heisman.
Watson recognized this and reminded everyone the Heisman Trophy wasn’t the be-all-end-all in college football.

What a silly sign.
Watson’s a champion and nobody can take that away from him. Sure, a Heisman would be nice, but let’s remember all the QBs – COUGH Johnny Manziel and Robert Griffin III COUGH – who have won the award, didn’t win a National Championship and have subsequently disappeared. Somehow, I doubt we’ll forget about Watson anytime soon.
