The Dallas Cowboys are in need of a new coaching staff after deciding to part ways with previous head coach Mike McCarthy, in a move that surprised nearly everyone across the NFL.
Now the Cowboys are on the hunt for the next man to lead the organization. In another surprise, the team is moving forward with an internal candidate, who was a part of last season’s staff.
“The (Cowboys) are expected to interview their own OC Brian Schottenheimer for their vacant head coaching job, per me and (Jane Slater). Well-respected in the building, Schottenheimer has been an OC for more than a decade. Intriguing option to take the next step,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Tuesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Cowboys keep interviewing candidates that have no real interest anywhere else, but in Dallas,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Man’s been an OC for more than a decade and finished outside the top 20 of the league in points scored as many times as he’s finished inside the top 12,” one fan added.
“We literally do not care about winning games & championship hardware if we make this move. This would be one of the most laziest hires Dallas has ever made,” another fan added.
“Remind me how the Cowboys did on offense this year? Also remind me who actually called plays for the Cowboys? The guy didn’t even call the plays for a weak offense and he’s now being considered for the head coaching job?” one fan posted incredulously.
“lol such an unserious organization. So they even care about building a winning organization? Always guys that coached for them or played for them. Hasn’t worked in 30 years. Maybe change philosophy a bit. Embarrassing,” added one fan.
It’ll be interesting to see what team owner and general manager Jerry Jones’s final decision is.
