Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco saved the season for the Cleveland Browns, leading the team to a 4-1 record down the stretch to clinch a spot in the postseason for just the second time in two decades, throwing for over 300 yards in all but one of his games with the team. But it sounds like the team is going to go back to Deshaun Watson as its starting quarterback next season.

During his Monday press conference, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanksi announced that Deshaun Watson would be the team’s starting quarterback again next season and that he is expected to be healthy enough to return by spring.

“Yeah, he’s doing great in rehab,” Stefanski said via Pro Football Talk. “I’m confident he’ll be ready to roll this spring. He’s chomping at the bit, but he’s doing everything he’s supposed to do when it comes to what the doctors are telling him and as he rehabs through this. But, he’ll be ready to roll.”

This isn’t necessarily a surprise as Watson is heading into just the third season of his massive five-year fully guaranteed contract with the Browns. But now that decision on the future of Watson – and Flacco, for that matter – is official.
