The Cincinnati Bengals signed veteran tight end Mike Gesicki this week to help bolster their offense heading into the 2024 NFL season, and it sure sounds like Gesicki is excited about the opportunity to play alongside a quarterback like Joe Burrow.
During a recent interview after joining the team, Mike Gesicki had a pretty clear message for Joe Burrow about how he will feel joining the team, saying that he has “never been in the huddle with that kind of talent,” referring to Burrow.
Gesicki isn’t wrong. He’s played with Ryan Tannehill, Brock Osweiler, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh Rosen, Jacoby Brissett, Teddy Bridgewater, Skylar Thompson, Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, and Tua Tagovailoa. While some of those guys are undeniably talented, none of them are quite to the level of Burrow. And it sounds like Gesicki has already been in contact with his new quarterback – but not too much.
“I’m not going to bother him too much. But he’s been great. He’s been somebody I’ve been able to reach out to and have conversations,” Gesicki said. “He’s been a leader in the locker room who a lot of guys look to. I’m definitely one of those guys looking to him. I’ve heard great things about him as a teammate. He’s easy to talk to. Good sense of humor.”
We’ll have to see how the two are able to perform together this upcoming season.
