This week, the Kansas City Chiefs received their Super Bowl rings in celebration of their recent victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. But while the rings are indeed flashy, it seems like they also feature a pretty embarrassing typo.
The Chiefs shared photos of the new Super Bowl ring on their official website this week. But as Pro Football Talk points out, the ring features a pretty embarrassing typo.
“An inner graphic showing the team’s run to the Super Bowl includes the opponents and their seeds. The purpose apparently was to point out that the Chiefs took down both No. 1 seeds en route to winning the championship. If so, the Chiefs undersold their first-round win,” Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk points out.
“The ring lists the Dolphins as the No. 7 seed. They were not. They were the No. 6 seed. The Steelers were the seventh seed, and they faced the second-seeded Bills in Buffalo in the opening round of the playoffs.”
Obviously, it’s a pretty minor detail in the grand scheme of things and it isn’t even visible while the ring is being worn, but it’s still a pretty embarrassing mistake for such a flashy and expensive piece of jewelry.
