During his rookie year with Washington, after the team selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Chase Young looked poised to become one of the most dominant pass rushers in the league, winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award his first season. But since then, injuries have derailed his career.
Following that stellar rookie season, Chase Young has dealt with some injury setbacks that have kept him off the field and unable to reach his full potential. But even though he acknowledges that injuries “hundred” his growth, he knows there’s still time to grow into his potential as a player.
“Really not excited to prove anything to anybody,” Young said according to the New Orleans Saints team website “I’m just going to go out there and be the best Chase Young I can be.
“Injuries definitely hindered a few things, but it’s all good. It’s all about a process, all about the journey. I know what I can do. I’m a man of God, He’s still giving me opportunities to prove it. So, I’m here.”
Young signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints this week. We’ll have to see how he performs this upcoming season.
