USC Trojans star quarterback Caleb Williams is widely projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, but even though he will be in attendance for the NFL Scouting Combine next month, it sounds like teams are going to have to wait a little bit longer to see him in action.
According to a report from league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Caleb Williams will attend the NFL Combine to meet with teams, but he will not be participating in any workouts or drills. Instead, he’ll be saving that for his pro day.
“Potential top overall pick #USC QB Caleb Williams will wait until his Pro Day to throw and workout for scouts, sources say. He’ll be in Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine, but not throw for teams,” Rapoport said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s not necessarily uncommon for top quarterbacks to decline working out at the NFL Combine, instead opting to throw in a much more familiar environment with more familiar receivers.
It seems like this is the approach that Williams will be taking heading into the NFL Draft. We’ll have to see how it works out for him.
