A stalker has recently left WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark in fear for her life.
According to court documents obtained by The Athletic, a 59-year-old Texas man by the name of Michael Lewis sent sexually violent and threatening messages to Clark through the social media app X and continued to do so after law enforcement was alerted.
The situation got more serious when Lewis traveled to Indianapolis to be closer to Clark.
The documents state that the man traveled to Indianapolis with the “intent to be in close proximity” to Clark and that messages were sent from an IP address on W. Market Street in Indianapolis, which is just half a mile from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where the Indiana Fever plays.
Needless to say, this whole situation terrified Clark.
According to the affidavit, law enforcement interviewed Caitlin Clark on Saturday regarding the matter. In that interview, Clark revealed that she was in fear for her life to the point that she altered her life as a result.
The documents state that Clark “has been very fearful since learning of the messages and that she has altered her public appearances and patterns of movement due to fear for her safety.”
Lewis was arrested by police on Sunday and could face up to six years in prison on a Level 5 felony if he is found guilty in a court of law.
For Clark’s safety, prosecutors are seeking stricter bail.
