There is literally nothing worse than getting exciting about football, then being forced to watch Blaine Gabbert play quarterback for pretty much an entire half. That happened to me tonight.
If you ever want to feel good about your team’s quarterback situation, watch Blaine Gabbert play football. I don’t care if you’re the Jacksonville Jaguars or Oakland Raiders — watch the first half of tonight’s 49ers/Ravens game. You will feel good about Chad Henne and Matt Schaub, I promise.
Anyways, the 49ers had the brilliant idea of trading away a draft pick for Blaine Gabbert this offseason. I know, I know, I know. It was was only a sixth rounder. But still, after watching Gabbert tonight, you got to wonder: How the hell did the Jags get anything for this guy?
Gabbert’s statline in the first half:
- 3-of-11 passing
- 20 passing yards
- 1 interception
Jim Harbaugh:
On his way to the locker room, Harbaugh was stopped by a reporter and was asked about Gabbert’s struggles. Before answering, Harbaugh’s face contorted into this twisted face that basically said: Okay Jim, don’t fuck this one up. Say something positive, before he ultimately forced out a response that mentioned the word “miscues.”
