The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a tough go of things.
Despite a strong start that saw the Bucs go up 10-0 against the Baltimore Ravens, things quickly spun out of control for Tampa Bay. Quarterback Baker Mayfield turned the ball over twice, and the Bucs went on to lose 41-31.
To make matters worse, star wide receiver Mike Evans was ruled out of the game early with a hamstring injury. Unfortunately, Evans wasn’t the only Tampa wideout to go down either.
Chris Godwin also suffered a brutal injury, dislocating his ankle late in the game. According to Pro Football Talk, Mayfield addressed Godwin’s injury after the game.
“It just absolutely sucks. It sucks for our team, but Chris deserves better than that. He’s an unbelievable guy, unbelievable teammate, he’s been playing extraordinarily this year. I’ve got a heavy heart right now. I don’t know what we’re going to do but have some guys step up, but thoughts and prayers with Chris and his family right now.”
“Chris is an unbelievable veteran presence. Obviously consistent on the field play, but what he does goes throughout the whole building..
“Goes out of his way to teach the young guys and bring them under his wing. He’s somebody that anybody in the NFL would want on your team. That’s why this hurts.”
Both Evans and Godwin are brutal losses that seriously threaten Tampa Bay’s playoff chances.
