The Atlanta Falcons are currently facing an NFL investigation into a possible tampering violation regarding their pursuit of quarterback Kirk Cousins, who they signed as a free agent this offseason. But it sounds like the Falcons are maintaining their innocence in the situation.

During an interview session at the NFL’s annual league meetings this week, new Atlanta Falcons coach Raheem Morris addressed the allegations, saying that he is very confident the team followed all the rules in their pursuit of Kirk Cousins.

“I’m really not allowed to really discuss right now while it’s under review, but I’ve got a lot of confidence in our people that we did the right thing,” Morris said. “It is what it is, and some of those things happen when you get excited, when you’re talking about those things. We’ll talk about those things at the appropriate time. It’s just right now it’s probably not that time.”

The investigation comes after Cousins said during his introductory press conference with the Falcons that he had direct contact with one of the Atlanta Falcons trainers before he was technically allowed to do so, which would be tampering.

If the Falcons are deemed to be guilty of tampering, they could forfeit draft picks and/or face a fine.
