It’s no secret the Atlanta Falcons had extremely inconsistent play at the quarterback position this season as they bounced between second-year Desmond Ridder and veteran Taylor Heinicke. And head coach Raheem Morris did not hold back when discussing how much he thinks the team needs improvement at the quarterback position.
During his press conference ahead of the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday, Raheem Morris sent a pretty brutal message to Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke, suggesting that the Falcons might not have had to fire previous head coach Arthur Smith if the team had better quarterback play last season.
“If we had better quarterback play I may not be standing here at the podium,” Morris said on Tuesday, according to Atlanta Falcons beat writer Daniel Flick of Sports Illustrated.

Morris certainly wasn’t the only one within the Falcons organization that thinks this way, either.
During his press conference on Tuesday, Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot also made it very clear that the team needed a new starting quarterback next season.
“Yeah, we’ve got to get it right, and that’s real clear. We haven’t shied away from that,” Fontenot said Tuesday at the Scouting Combine. “We know that’s critical to get that position right, but it doesn’t stop there. We have to get the right quarterback in, and we have to improve this entire roster and get ready to roll this season.”
It’s clear that they aren’t shy about saying what they feel about the situation.
